Message from PI

We view our graduate program as the crucial "first step" in your career as a researcher. Upon joining our lab, you will begin by critically reviewing specialized texts and state-of-the-art research in muscle biology. This foundational process allows you to identify specific themes within our ongoing projects and launch your research journey.

Medical and biological research—particularly our work with mouse reverse genetics—demands consistent effort and a resilience to the inevitable "trial and error" of daily experiments. We dedicate significant time each day to both benchwork and the acquisition of new knowledge. To truly enjoy this demanding process, a profound interest in our research themes and the biological phenomena we investigate is essential.

To engage with the global scientific community, you must hone your skills in scientific writing, literature synthesis, and international discussion. We actively encourage these efforts while asking you to constantly reflect on your own interests and suitability for a life in research.

I am committed to supporting our members' participation in academic societies to broaden your professional networks and perspectives. Our ultimate goal is to mentor you into an autonomous researcher—someone capable of defining original topics, executing experiments, securing funding, and publishing high-impact manuscripts by the time you leave this lab.

Graduate Students

Our lab investigates the mechanisms of muscle plasticity through biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, and reverse genetics. We are always seeking passionate graduate students to join our mission. Regardless of your previous background, if you possess a strong enthusiasm for molecular biology, we look forward to hearing from you.

For admission, please visit Graduate School of Sport Sciences, Waseda University.

Postdocs

We are accepting Postdocs as Postdoctoral fellow of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Applicants will be consulted individually. Please contact us with plenty of time before applying.
