Message from PI

We position the graduate program as the "first step” to be researchers. Once you enter the graduate school, you would review specialized books, review papers and state-of-the-art research papers of muscle biology to organize what we now understand. Through this process you could choose themes along the research projects in our lab, and start your research life here. Continuous efforts are necessary for a fair amount of time in medical / biological research such as that carried out in our lab, which is represented by experiments using mouse reverse-genetics and a series of trial and error in daily experiments. For this reason, we are spending considerable time every day to carry out experiments and to acquire knowledge. In order to enjoy this process, we think it is very important to have strong interest in the theme and phenomena we are focusing on.

Also, in order to expand the research world wide, it is essential to enhance the ability to read and write papers, gather scientific information, discuss and present your work, so I encourage your efforts on them for graduate students / postdoctoral fellows in our lab. We think that it is also necessary to constantly confirm your interest and suitability to your own research in these processes.

I would like to support graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to participate in academic and research societies as much as possible so that you can broaden your views and networks.

We are trying to instruct students / postdocs to acquire the knowledge necessary to become autonomous researchers who can set their research topics, proceed with the experiments themselves, analyze the data, write the manuscripts, publish papers, get research funding through these, when they leave the lab.

Graduate Students

We conduct research on mechanisms of muscle plasticity using biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and reverse genetics. Our lab is continuously seeking graduate students to study together. We do not care about your past career. Please contact us if you have a strong interest and enthusiasm in biology at molecular and cellular levels and you would like to study with us.

For admission, please visit Graduate School of Sport Sciences, Waseda University.

Postdocs

We are accepting Postdocs as Postdoctoral fellow of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Applicants will be consulted individually. Please contact us with plenty of time before applying.
